Adjusting My Attitude on Mother’s Day!

Today I found myself reading my refrigerator magnet. I do this when I get frustrated. Every now and then I need this powerful reminder:

Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. Look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. Think only of the best, work only for the best, and expect only the best. Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. Give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. Live in the faith that the whole world is on your side so long as you are true to the best that is in you!  – Christian D. Larson (www.quotablecards.com)

Today I wanted to complain that my daughter woke me up two hours before my alarm went off to give me breakfast in bed, that I had no me time and that unless I went to a friend’s house there would be no one making me dinner or taking me out to a Mother’s Day brunch. I guess I could get caught up in that (and I did for a while), then I read my magnet and realized that I am incredibly blessed.

Blessed to have such a sweet little girl who loves me enough to jump out of bed to make me feel special,

Mother's Day Breakfast

and blessed to have a wonderful friend who would share her Mother’s Day with me. Now that I have adjusted my attitude I can turn to how I can be a blessing in some other mother’s life.

To all the moms of the world (mentors, fosters, adoptive, older siblings, aunts, etc) – May your Mother’s Day be the day of your dreams!! If it isn’t then maybe you can take a minute to help make someone else’s day. I am grateful for the blessings I received today. They may not have been what I wanted, but they were just what I needed (thanks Mama Odie)

Happy Mother’s Day!
